I started the Peacekeeper Project with the intention to help create a more peaceful and connected world, by helping people just like you quiet your busy mind, so you can reconnect to the peace, clarity and wisdom of your heart… and ultimately, live from that place.
It was extremely clear to me many years ago, but as I observe many of the conflicts happening in the world at the moment, from the conflict in Israel and Palestine to the conflicts between people who simply have a different opinion, it’s again becoming painfully clear that the world will never be free of conflict until we as individual learn to heal the conflict inside ourselves.
When I say painfully clear I do say this literally… Because as a sensitive empathic heart-based being, I feel the pain and suffering from the conflict in the world.
I feel the pain of the cruel and horrendous things happening to people, but I also feel the pain of the people who inflict these actions.
It’s important to remember, that to inflict pain and suffering on others requires a deep level of disconnection from our heart and our fellow humans… which in itself is extremely painful.
If you’re empathic, it’s likely you feel this too. And you’ll likely feel it more in the perpetrators who inflict cruelty on others than they do themselves, because with the level of disconnection it takes to do these things, it also means they’re disconnected from the pain of doing it… Otherwise they wouldn’t be able to do it. That doesn’t mean their pain is not there, it’s just buried deep.
The Path To Peace
You do have the power to help heal global conflict and change the world, but firstly, you have to make a choice, and decide what kind of a world do you want to live in. And secondly, take responsibility for what you bring into the world.
Our outwards actions are a reflection of our inner state of mind. When we’re emotionally reactive, insecure and conflicted inside ourselves, then this plays out in the world around us – in our interactions and reactions to news and various world events – creating conflict in the world.
We don’t need to label our emotional reactions and insecurities as good or bad. But we do need to understand them and the impact they have on our life. When we understand them, we can then take responsibility for them.
Because a peaceful and connected world will be a result of peaceful and connected people.
So, if peace and connection is what we want, we have to choose it!
But choosing it, it’s really about choosing to live from our heart. Because at the essence of the heart we already know this peace and connection. It’s part of who we truly are. It’s just a matter of anchoring this into our life, which then ripples out in the world.
As Gandhi said:
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Being the change starts with reconnecting to the light inside you, and then do what light does – SHINE! ☀️
Yes, it will be challenging. And yes, there will always be reasons or excuses as to why we can’t, or why we think it’s not possible. You might even be tempted to think that if other people don’t care about humanity, then why should you?
These are all very real and valid feelings and experiences inside yourself, and it’s important to acknowledge them. It’s also important to see them in the broader context of your heart’s greater desire for a more peaceful and connected world.
Reflections for transformation and healing conflict
This week I invite you to take time to turn inwards, become quiet, connect to your heart and reflect on this.
Feel into your heart.
Feel it’s inherent peace and connection.
I know it’s not always easy to get beyond the usual noise and distractions of the mind, but with practice it is possible. I have a handful of Free Guided Meditations (including the heart space meditation) that you can access here that can help. Meditation is one of the most powerful ways to reconnect to the peace and connection in your heart.
Notice how when you connect to this, the desire for a more peaceful and connected world is actually an expression of who you truly are. There’s something deeply powerful in this realization. A freedom from your fears, insecurities, and the stories and dramas in your mind, and a healing of inner conflict.
Notice how in the peace of your heart you feel more connected to others. This is what will help to heal global conflict and create a more peaceful and connected world. Spend time here. Become more familiar with this peace and connection.
Become familiar with your heart.
And then… SHINE! ☀️
Like a room full of candles joining their light to light up a dark room, a peaceful and connected world will be a joint effort.
A combined aspiration of the heart.
The world needs your heart to shine!
